仇氏兄弟生长在一个小渔村的小康之家，大哥正直勤劳，二弟整天胡闹生事，一天在酒楼中与当地土豪恶霸结怨，其后被人用离间计使兄弟二人反目，大哥更被恶霸聘高手杀害，弟弟后来得悉恶霸之奸计便为兄长报仇……。物語は「監察医朝顔」のラストの翌年春から幕を開け、朝顔が母の遺体を探しに1人で東北を訪れたことによって新たな物語が紡がれていく。彼女が東日本大震災と母の死に深く向き合うさまや、前作では描けなかった東日本大震災以外の大規模災害にも相対する姿が切り取られる。。The story of a young group of siblings pretty much abandoned by their parents, surviving by their wits - and humor - on a rough Manchester council estate.
