春秋战国时期，庞涓因妒忌孙膑精通《孙子兵法》，唯恐其被魏惠王重用，一面派亲侄庞茅与诚儿侍奉孙膑左右，一面却在惠王和太子面前说其坏话。庞涓设下阴谋，诬告孙膑与齐国私通，惠王欲治孙膜死罪。庞涓欲得"兵法"真谛，假意向惠王求请，孙膑被减刑挖去膝盖骨。孙膑不明真相，将《孙子兵法》默写给庞涓。庞涓想得到真谛后毒死孙膑，其用心被庞茅、诚儿揭穿。孙膑被软禁，庞茅、诚儿与齐国使臣淳于凳将孙腹救往齐国后，双双死在庞涓手下。齐王在孙膑智谋下，将进攻韩国的庞涓诱杀于马陵道。。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
